Pet radiology and ultrasound are valuable diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine. We strive to offer the highest quality medicine and diagnostic testing for your pet, and we are pleased to offer pet radiology and ultrasound services performed at our animal medical center.

Veterinary Radiology

A radiograph (typically called an X-ray) is a type of photograph that can look inside the body and reveal information that may not be discernable from the outside.

Veterinary radiography is safe, painless, and noninvasive. The level of radiation exposure needed to perform radiography is very low, and is safe for use on pregnant females and very young pets. Radiography can be used to evaluate the size, shape, and position of almost any organ in the body, including:

  • Heart
  • Lungs
  • Abdominal organs
  • Bones
  • Joints

Many pet diseases alter the size, shape, or positon of internal organs, and radiographs are a vital diagnostic tool in the identification of conditions such as:

  • Bladder stones
  • Broken bones
  • Chronic arthritis
  • Spinal cord diseases

Veterinary Ultrasound

Pet ultrasound has proven to be a powerful tool in veterinary medicine. One of our goals is to offer only the most advanced medicine and diagnostic testing. We provide ultrasound services performed by an ultrasound imaging specialist in the clinic by appointment.

Pet ultrasonography is a type of veterinary diagnostic technique that uses high frequency sound (ultrasound) waves to produce a moving, real time, image of your pet. Ultrasonography is a completely noninvasive, painless way to diagnose and evaluate many common pet diseases and abnormalities in organ function.

The ultrasound is administered by holding a small probe gently against your pet’s skin. The probe sends out and collects painless ultrasound waves that are interpreted by a sensor and converted into a moving image. Ultrasound waves can generate excellent images of the abdominal cavity and are ideal for viewing images including:

  • Liver
  • Spleen
  • Gallbladder
  • Kidneys
  • Tumors
  • Monitoring pregnancy
  • Heart

We will soon be offering in-house ultrasound testing performed by our veterinary team for diagnosis and screening of minor health conditions such as:

  • Pregnancy
  • Tumors
  • Bladder stones
